Ana Tereza Maia is a highly experienced cancer researcher, trained at some of the leading universities and research centers in Europe, with more than 25 years of experience. Thro his career, he has mentored more than 50 students and researchers.

His latest undertaking has been to plunge into the business world, adding new perspectives and strategies from the co-founding of the startup ExpressTEC, dedicated to the development of in-vitro complementary diagnostic (IVD) genetic testing, with the aim of increasing the accuracy and effectiveness of targeted treatments in oncology.

ExpressTEC, a spin-off incubated at the University of Algarve, was one of seven Portuguese technology-based companies led by women selected for the Women TechEU program.
