Ana Varges Gomes has been chairman of the Board of Directors of the Algarve Hospital and University Centre (CHUA) since 2020.
She is a medical oncologist since 2012, representative of Medical Oncology in the Board of the Head and Hals Group of EORTC (European Organization for research and Treatment of Cancer).
She is the author and co-author of 16 international papers in the field of head and neck oncology, including the European Guidelines for the Treatment of Nasopharyngeal Tumors, “The hidden curve behind COVID-19 outbreak: the impact of delay in treatment initiation in cancer patients and how to mitigate the additional risk of dying – the head & neck cancer model” and “Head and necc cancer survivorship recommendations”.

Ana Varges Gomes é Presidente do Conselho de Administração do Centro Hospitalar e Universitário do Algarve (CHUA) desde 2020.
É médica oncologista desde 2012, representante da Oncologia Médica no Board do Grupo de Cabeça e Pescoço da EORTC (European Organization for research and Treatment of Cancer).
